Our committee

The engine of Gŵyl Rhuthun Festival is a passionate and dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly to bring the festival to life year after year.

Our committee is a group of individuals from across the community, each bringing their own skills, experience and ideas. Every event, every performance and every detail is organised by committee members who give their time freely because they believe in what the festival stands for.

The work behind the festival

Although the festival lasts for a week, the work behind it continues all year round.

Our committee puts in over 2000 hours of volunteer work every year to bring the festival to life. That adds up to more than 270 working days. If we had to pay for that time it would cost over £36,000. Our team does it all for free to support the festival and its community.

Behind the scenes, our team is responsible for:

• Booking bands and artists
• Coordinating the full programme of events
• Designing and managing social media, posters and festival branding
• Organising road closures and town centre logistics
• Setting up and taking down staging, sound and infrastructure
• Coordinating volunteers throughout the week
• Arranging health and safety, including first aid provision
• Liaising with the police and local authorities
• Securing sponsorship, grants and funding
• Arranging licences, including outdoor event and alcohol licences
• Hiring security, equipment and facilities (including toilets and waste management)
• Ensuring the town is clean, safe and welcoming throughout the festival
• And more!

It’s a huge team effort and one that relies entirely on commitment, teamwork and pride in our community.
